(SBN) – The Orpheum Theatre in Memphis has taken what it calls a “racially insensitive” classic movie out if its establishment. The movie “Gone with the Wind” debuted in 1939 and has been known for strong racial undertones.

A statement from the theatre read in part, “As an organization whose stated mission is to ‘entertain, educate and enlighten the communities it serves,’ the Orpheum cannot show a film that is insensitive to a large segment of its local population.”
