(SBN) – In what began as a call for unity during a campaign-style rally in Phoenix, AZ,  President Donald Trump then quickly erupted in anger-filled rant against the media.  Just a day after what some saw as a more “presidential” Donald Trump during his televised prime time address, Trump blamed the media for the widespread condemnation of his response to violence at a Charlottesville, Virginia.  In doing so, Trump omitted part of his own statement while addressing his staunchest supporters.

Meantime, former Obama-era national intelligence director James Clapper told CNN’s Don Lemon that he questions Trump’s “fitness for office.”

“I really question his ability to be — his fitness to be — in this office, and I also am beginning to wonder about his motivation for it. Clapper said he found the President’s  Phoenix rally speech “downright scary and disturbing.” Clapper denounced Trump’s “behavior and divisiveness and complete intellectual, moral and ethical void. How much longer does the country have to, to borrow a phrase, endure this nightmare? He should have quit while he was ahead after last night,” Clapper referring to Trump’s announcement on US strategy in Afghanistan. Again, I think the real Trump came through.”
