(SBN) — Wednesday, a permit was issued to a politically conservative group to hold a rally in San Francisco. Local officials say the Patriot Prayer rally on Saturday could turn violent. The permit was issued on condition, which includes banning guns, torches and other items that can be turned into weapons.
The event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at Crissy Field, a federal park along the San Francisco Bay. Patriot Prayer leader Joey Gibson says the rally is in support of free speech and hate groups will not be welcome, even though extremist groups have attended Patriot Prayer events in the past.
Several groups that oppose President Trump are organizing counter demonstrations.
